Font Notes:
Described and ilustrated in Herbosa (1999) as a baptismal font of the Romanesque period; hemispherical basin ornamented with a roll moulding at the upper rim and a blind arcade of horseshoe arches all around. The cylindrical stem of the base is plain; the lower base is circular and plain. Although the workmanship of this font is rather crude, the Mozarabic arcade is quite charming and not very common an ornamentation on fonts of this area where arcades of the Romanesque period tend to have round arches. Noted in García Gómez (2007). Rodríguez Montañés, in his "Panorama general del arte románico en Soria" [http://inicia.es/de/FSMLR/panorama.htm] states that the font was originally from Valdecantos.
