Conflicting sources date the font and the holy-water stoup in this church to either the Romanesque period [source: www.asambleamadrid.es] or to the 16th century [source: www.sierranorte.com] -- to be resolved. The entry for this church in the village web site [www.gargantadelosmontes.es/index.php/2017/11/13/iglesia-parroquial-de-san-pedro-apostol-2/] [accessed 6 October 2019] dates the church to the late 15th century and adds, "la pila bautismal y las del agua bendita, tan antiguas como el propio pueblo de Garganta" [NB: the village itself is said to have become populated in the 14th-15th centuries.
