Described in the Catálogo Monumental de Navarra (1990?- , vol. I: 255) as a baptismal font of the 16th century; the hemispherical basin is ornamented with ribbed pattern and ball motif, as well as a shield charged with a coat of arms much too worn now to allow for identification; another such shield, equally deteriorated, adorns the base. [NB: Domeño (1992: 110) states that the medieval baptismal font was lost with the first renovation -Renaissance period?- of this church; the original Romanesque church dates from the late 12th century, and was built on the foundations of the 9th-11th century mosque here]. The basin of the 16th-century font has been reinforced with a metal band just below the upper rim. [NB: we have a report from Mikel Unanue that a second font -octagonal and plain, probably medieval- was in the cathedral but not on display [covered in packing tape! -- source: e-mail (28 June 2010) from Mikel Unanue].
