Font Notes:
One of two baptismal fonts from the old Jesuit mission; described in the source as "patrimonio único de la humanidad" [source: http://www.taller.org.ar/expedicion/presa_lat_der.htm] [another such dated ca. 1706 is recorded in Trinidad del Parana] One of the two fonts [unclear which] is illustrated in Levinton (2003: fig. 22d): the font consists of a round basin, almost hemispherical, but with an extended almost-vertical upper rim, raised on a round stem and a quadrangular lower base; the upper side of the basin, at the extended rim, has a roll moulding all around, and there is another such separating the basin side from the underbowl, itself decorated with deeply carved stylised foliage which Levinton describes as 'almohade' and relates to the Mudéjar art from Aragón, the land whence the master masons originated; the short stem of the base has two roll mouldings; the square lower base is decorated with motifs stylistically related to those on the underbowl, all of Arabic-based art.
