Described and illustrated in the Catálogo Monumental de Navarra (1990?- , vol. II*: 80 and pl. 85) as a holy-water stoup of the late 12th century; the basin is roughly hemispherical, quite irregular and shallow, decorated with a double roll moulding motif at the upper basin side, the rest of the basin and underbowl covered in a thin-rib or piping pattern; the stem of the base, a column with an upper capital decorated with volutes, is described in the above source as "protogótico"; the round stem has a moulding at each end, and the lower base is round-to-square, with ball (?) motifs at 90-degree angles, and appears to be partly buried into the flooring. Assigning a date to the whole object may not be possible; also, the crudeness of the execution of the basin need not be interpreted as a sign on great antiquity. [cf. Index entry for Artavia No. 1 for the baptismal font in this church].
