Baptismal font probably of the late-Gothic period ornamented with the coat of arms of the Osorio family topped with a cross on the hemispheric basin; the background is a ribbed pattern all around; raised on a cylindrical pedestal with mouldings at the round-to-square lower base. According to our source [cf. infra] the font was commissioned by the regent of the marquis, after the death of the previous title-holder, bishop Luis Osorio; Osorio was bishop of Jaén since 1483 until his death in 1496. If the font was indeed commissioned soon after the death of the bishop, it could be dated to ca. 1500.
