Described in Bilbao (1996) as a baptismal font of the Romanesque period; the basin is ornamented with crudely rendered ribbed pattern, raised on a modern base. The basin, a roughly cylindrical block sligthly tapering towards the bottom, is actually quite irregular, a crude work in general terms, the ribbed pattern very uneven and the shape of the block equally rendered; the underbowl is flat but the block of limestone has a narrow neck piece that would have met the original base; the upper rim of the basin has retained the iron staples of the old cover. As Bilbao points out [cf. supra] the four blocks that make up the current base are a modern addition. NB: this font may be originally from Cuzcurrita de Juarros]. The entry for this village in Emiliano Nebreda Perdiguero [www.archiburgos.es/wp-content/uploads/amo-a-mi-pueblo.pdf] [accessed 19 April March 2021] notes: "San Román, mártir, es el titular de su iglesia [...] La pila es románica con sogueado en borde y arcos insinuados en copa y tiene base cilíndrica. "
