Described in the Catálogo Monumental de Navarra (1990?- , vol. IV**: 448); described and illustrated in Domeño (1992: 165 and fig. 185) as a baptismal font of the Romanesque period, probably ca. 1200; the basin is of a type common in Navarra in this period, rather shallow and almost cylindrical, the sides ornamented with a row of ball motif within a scotia at the upper side and a neat arcade of round arches below [cf. a similar font at Artaiz; also the basins at Elorz, Auza, etc., all with entries in this Index]; the base is a plain cylinder with roll mouldings at both ends; the lower base is made of two thick roll mouldings, the lower volume with heads (?) at 90-degree angles; the small square plinth is plain and probably modern [it does not appear in our ca. 1943 source image from the Archivo Uranga which shows the font with a wooden prismatic cover no longer on the font now]. The basin has been either recarved or drastically cleaned. [We are grateful to the Institución Príncipe de Viana and to the photographers Larrión and Pimoulier, all of Pamplona, Spain, for the images of this font]
