Listed in Bilbao (1996). Described and illustrated in Sáenz Rodríguez (2004) as the chef-d'oeuvre of a workshop hypothetically located in Santo Domingo de la Calzada or its surroundings towards the end of the 12th century. Bilbao cites J.G. Moya Valgañón et al.'s Inventario... as source In the Enciclopedia del románico en La Rioja (2008). Baptismal font dated by an inscription ["ERA MCCXXXVII"] to A.D. 1199. The font is of a design common to the local workshop probably based at Santo Domingo de la Calzada, and of the type related with the Oja workshops: roughly hemispherical basin, the sides decorated with a vegetal vine, the underbowl with a ribbed pattern of broad ribs; the usual cylindrical stem is enhanced in this case with four bearded heads towards the upper part; the lower base round-to-square; it is unusual in that it bears an inscription on the basin side, right under the vegetal decoration. The Enciclopedia... (ibid.) notes that similar inscriptions are found on the fonts at Grañón and Santurde, in Rioja, and those at Barbadillo de Herrera [sic], Eterna and Fresnedo de la Sierra [sic], in Burgos province. [i.e., Fresneda de la Sierra Tiron and Barbadillo de los Herreros]
