Described and illustrated in Sáenz Rodríguez (2004), listing it with other fonts of the Sierra de la Demanda or Najerilla workshop or group; this author cites a 19th-century document that refers to the move [="traslado"] of the font and stoup, but it is not clear whether it was within or without the church, and, if the latter, where from. In the Enciclopedia del románico en La Rioja (2008) as a baptismal font consisting of a hemispherical basin profusely decorated raised on a two-volume round stem and a splaying square lower base; the basin has a flat moulding at the upper rim followed down by a row of ball motif and a rope moulding below; the lower side and underbowl is decorated with: a six-petal floral motif inscribed in a circle; a radiating sun in a circle; set of three circles inscribed in a circle; a plant or tree; a six-point star with ball motifs in the blank spaces inscribed in a rope circle; a pig or wild boar with a plant in its mouth; there is one other animal, a quadruped, as well as several birds, and leaves, stars, etc., in the spandrels created by the circles; there remain two metal staples at the upper rim surface; the upper volume of the stem is decorated with pine cones and foliage and overhangs the lower volume which is decorated with foliage or feathers; the lower base has four leaves at 90-degree angles. The Enciclopedia… (ibid.) reports a marked disagreement in the dating of this font, with one early extreme in the 12th century and another as late as the 16th century. There is no font cover present but there are two metal staples in the upper rim, anchorings for a former cover.
