A large hemispherical basin the upper sides of which are ornamented with a low relief lozenge motif all around. According to a local source [cf. infra] this font was in the Iglesia de Santa Eulalia in Palenzuela until 1954, at a time when Palenzuela was still in the diocese of Burgos. The municipality acquired the abandoned site of the church in 1930 for 4,000 pesetas with the authorisation of the Archbishop of Burgos, while the parish retained the rights to the furnishings. The font, however, was left among the ruins until 1954 when the then parish priest, Agustín Lazcano, released the baptismal font to the newly built Iglesia de la Anunciación in Burgos capital. The town of Palenzuela attempted to recover the font -the removal of which is seen as illegal by some- but the font remains at present [March 2003] in its location in Burgos.
