New Testament - Passion of Christ - Crucifixion - Sun and Moon - kneeling figures

Scene Description: there are three figures kneeling at the foot of the cross: a larger one on the left dressed in rich clothing and two smaller ones on the right; scrolls issuing from their mouths may contain a text [too low resolution for identification] -- presumably the Saint's identification in Mémoire refers to the standing figure on the chamfer

Listed in Palissy [ref.: PM86000232]: "Bénitier exécuté vers 1600 [...] Taille de pierre [...] Calvaire, I.N.R.I., soleil, lune, saint Hilaire". Illustrated in Mémoire [ref.: AP86W00163, AP12R058563, OA086_20238601040]. Described and illustrated in Le Patrimoine des communes de la Vienne (2002, v.1: 154) as one of two holy-water stoups, originally from the 12th century (?) but finished with ornamentation in the 17th century by the local abbé Olivier Siret; this one, on the left side as one enters the nave, is a monolithic stoup of quadrangular shape with cropped corners around the upper 2/3; the basin well is round and very shallow. Of the two visible sides in this source, one is ornamented with a large Crucifixion scene: Christ on the cross, a large INRI titulus across the top, the Sun to the left (the viewer's), and the Moon to the right; the chamfered or cropped corner is occupied by a bishop, Saint-Hilary, according to the inscription below; the cross is mounted on a three-step plinth, on which three figures kneel and are accompanied by scrolls containing their exhortations; the next side -to the right of the viewer- contains a small cross with figures to the sides at the bottom; the upper 2/3 are covered in an inscription: "ACQVA BEA[...] SALVS[...] VITA[...]". [NB: a second stoup is referred to, also ornamented by O. Siret, but no details are given in this source] [Flohic ref. no.: 86040508] [NB: the lettering of the inscriptions is also found on other parts of the church; one of the columns of the nave has similar lettering and the mixed capitals and small-case, and bears the date 1598, as shown in Mes voyages en France [http://www.mesvoyagesenfrance.com/D86/Leignes-sur-Fontaine.html] [accessed 20 December 2023] -- the inscription on the outer wall of the church, to the right of the portal, is also very similar [cf. Mémoire [ref.: AP12R058561] [https://www.pop.culture.gouv.fr/notice/memoire/AP12R058561] [accessed 20 December 2023]]
