Baptismal font listed and illustrated in López de Guereñu [https://photo.araba.eus/s/photoaraba/item/59022] [accessed 10 August 2024]: "Ermita de Nuestra Señora de Beolarra de Marquínez [...] totalmente abandonada [...] pila bautismal parcialmente rota y sin ningún tipo de ornamentación especial". The photograph shows a badly damaged font and cover in the interior of the then abandoned church; what is visible appears to include a roughly hemispherical basin totally plain, on which stands a pill-box type of wooden cover with decorated sides; there is no visible base in the photograph. The entry for Markinez in the Enciclopedia del románico [https://www.romanicodigital.com/sites/default/files/pdfs/files/alava_MARKINEZ.pdf] [accessed 10 August 2024] includes a description and some illustrations of the Ermita de Nuestra Señora de Beolarra, adding that remains of a Romanesque window have been re-purposed as a base for the font: "Estos elementos han sido reutilizados como soporte de una pila del siglo xvii." The Enciclopedia... entry informs that the building was renovated to some extent in 1962. Arriola Loyola (1996: 138) describes a mounted baptismal font of the 17th century the base of which was originally part of a window. [cf. Index entry for Marquinez N. 1 for the baptismal font at the parish church of Santa Eulalia]
