Font Notes:
Described and illustrated in the Patrimoine des communes... l'Essonne (2002, v. 2: 971) as a unique baptismal font originally from the 14th (15th?) century now serving as base for the main altar; the object is oval, almost like a baking dish, and has a motif on the front broad side that shows two human figures standing and a (?) motif between them. It appears to be a rather unique type of font, very large to judge by the measurements given (90 x 155 cm). Listed in Palissy [ref.: IM91001468]: "Fonts baptismaux [...] Cuve ovale, en forme de nef, décorée de feuilles et de personnages (d'une hauteur de 70 cm) sur chacune des faces en son milieu [...] Décor uniquement végétal sur une face ; deux hommes revêtus de tuniques plissées encadrant le même motif de feuilles sur l'autre face [...] 12e siècle (?) [...] Fonts baptismaux de l'ancienne église Saint-Pierre démolie en 1805 ; ils servirent pendant longtemps d'abreuvoir dans la cour de la grande ferme de Noisy. Acquis par Georges de Courcel et conservés au château de Port-Courcel, ils ont été offerts à l'église actuelle en 1970, lors de la rénovation du choeur, où ils supportent la table d'autel."
