The cemetery grew around a 'martirium' basilica dedicated to St. Fructuoso, the necropolis and the baptistery are believed to be later additions. Studied and illustrated in Serra- Vilaró (1931) and in Puig i Cadafalch (1936). Described and illustrated in Palol (1967), after Serra Vilaró and Puig i Cadafalch, as a rectangular sunken font found in the Necrópolis de San Fructuoso; the rectangular cavity is enclosed in a mass of cement and its surfaces are done in a fine opus signinum finish; no trace of drainage was found; dated to the late 4th ar early 5th century; steps on the two short sides of the rectangle: one with three, the other with two steps. Noted and illustrated in Khatchatrian (1982) with references to Serra Vilaró (1931), Puig i Cadafalch (1936) and Palol (1967), with date in the early 5th century. There is a monographic Estudio crítico de la Necrópolis Paleocristiana de Tarragona by Mª Dolors del Amo, published in 1979 by the Diputació Provincial de Tarragona, with a complementary volume of illustrations issued by the same in 1981; a section in the first volume is dedicated to the "Basílica y Baptisterio".
