Described in Bilbao (1994: 127) as a plain medieval baptismal font. Bilbao (ibid.) cites an entry by López de Guereñu in Revista Estíbaliz (1968, March-April). The font is mentioned in the entry for the Santuario de Nuestra Señora de Oro in the Ayuntamiento de Zuia / Zuiako Udala web page [www.zuia.eus/es/turismo-y-ocio/recursos-turisticos/santuario-de-nuestra-senora-de-oro/ [accessed 12 December 2015]: "Pila bautismal: Puede que sea de la segunda etapa de construcción. Hay constancia de que el santuario se ha utilizado para bautizar desde el XVI." Although the Santuario originates in the 12th century, the present font appears to be a 16th century replacement (if there ever was an earlier one here); it consists of a plain hemispherical basin raised on an equally plain cylindrical pedestal base and a square lower base with a moulding atop; the base may be of a later date than the basin. No cover present. As indicated in the municipal web page above, baptisms here are documented since the 16th century.
