Baptismal font listed and illustrated in López de Guereñu [https://photo.araba.eus/s/photoaraba/item/66045] [accessed 28 July 2024]: "Pila bautismal de la iglesia de San Pedro de Morillas. Vista frontal de una pila bautismal medieval. Presenta una copa muy decorada con motivos geométricos incisos: encestados, dientes de sierra y discos radiantes". Described in Bilbao (1994: 126) as a medieval baptismal font; the basin is ornamented with incised geometric motifs. Bilbao (ibid.: 30) suggests that the fonts at Arriano, Morillas and Zuazo de Cuartango may be by the same workshop or master. Bilbao (ibid.) cites entries in López de Guereñu and Portilla. The entry for this church in the Enciclopedia del románico [https://www.romanicodigital.com/sites/default/files/pdfs/files/alava_MORILLAS.pdf] [accessed 3 February 2023] describes and illustrates the baptismal font here and its intricate motifs in detail: "el elemento más destacable de esta iglesia es su pila bautismal. Se halla en un lateral de la nave, frente a la puerta de ingreso, bajo un arco rebajado de menor tamaño que los arcos que se abren a las dos capillas laterales. Llama la atención la decoración de la copa. Se trata de una ornamentación geométrica, dividida en tres franjas que ocupan toda la superficie exterior. En la franja superior y más ancha, encontramos unas decoraciones formadas por incisiones lineales en forma V, a modo de espiga, que se repiten de forma seriada y están separadas por cuatro líneas verticales marcando el ritmo. En la segunda banda encontramos seis motivos diferentes que se repiten. Son distintas composiciones geométricas formadas por juegos circulares, con más relieve que la decoración descrita anteriormente. Esta decoración consiste en varios círculos concéntricos, con una línea vertical que los une. A continuación, una serie de seis ruedas –dispuestas tres a tres– con otras más pequeñas en su interior; un redondel con el interior rehundido y un círculo como los anteriores en su interior; otro disco con una cruz insertada que a su vez tiene otro en el centro; y otra forma circular con cinco circunferencias de menor tamaño. Completa la ornamentación dos semicírculos contrapuestos de características muy similares al primer motivo descrito, es decir, con círculos concéntricos y una recta que los une. La cenefa inferior, de menor tamaño, se compone de una repetición de elementos muy similares a los de la segunda banda, pero simplificados. La basa, o pequeño plinto, está tratada de distinta forma en dos de sus lados. En uno se muestra con el borde recortado por semicírculos, y en el otro hay un abujardado muy tosco en la parte superior y unos triángulos rehundidos dispuestos de forma intercalada hacia arriba y hacia abajo. Parece que esta basa no fue acabada, ya que el resto de los lados están sin trabajar."
