Font Notes:
Described and illustrated in Bilbao (1994), who reports it in a park ["en la campa del antiguo balneario de Zuazo de Cuartango"] ca. 1994. Bilbao (ibid.) cites an entry in Portilla. The remaining fragment is a part of the basin sides and underbowl of a [late?] medieval baptismal font of roughly hemispherical shape; the remaining decoration is arranged in three bands; the upper band, much of which is missing, has a number [12?] of potent Greek crosses; below it, framed by two roll mouldings, is a band of sun-like radiant circles all around; the lower round, which constitutes the underbowl proper, has fan motifs all around. The base is missing. Inside the original church, now abandoned and in ruins, by the east side of the doorway, is a large flat stone with a hole in its centre; it could be the plinth of the baptismal font. [NB: font location update: e-mail of 26 July 2015 from Mikel Unanue, regular contributor to BSI, regarding the present location of this font: "ahora esta recogida en un centro de interpretación que han abierto en Estibalitz, junto a Vitoria"].
