This baptismal font is referred to in Castro (1915) as similar, in the beauty of its ornamentation, to the one at Hueto Arriba. Listed and illustrated in López de Guereñu [https://photo.araba.eus/s/photoaraba/item/60730] [accessed 3 August 2024]: "pila bautismal de estilo gótico". Noted in Portilla Vitoria (1983) and in the Catálogo Monumental de la Diócesis de Vitoria: "una pila bautismal, semejante, por la belleza de sus relieves, a la de Hueto de Arriba". Described and illustrated in Bilbao (1994) as the important basin of a Gothic baptismal font. The original base is reported as lost, the basin supported now by a pillar with fluted pattern ornamentation. Noted in Plazaola Artola (2008?). The font consists of a round tapering basin raised on a round pedestal base and round-to-square lower base; of the three parts the stem is a later replacement, but the lower base is probably original, decorated with mushroom-shaped motifs. The basin sides are divided into irregular compartments by piping, and the same creates a separation between the side proper and the underbowl; there has been some damage to the upper side and rim, but most of the elements of the ornamentation are still intact, and include [L->R]: a large six-petalled flour [or is it a wheel?] -> two quadrupeds [dogs?] and a snake in a helter-skelter arrangement in the panel -> a three-branch cactus-like plant -> an Ogee motif inscribed in a circle -> a tall Latin potent cross with four tower-like buildings, all raised on a curved base with pointed arch-heads below -> window tracery -> another large circle inscribing a motif -> a front-facing female-looking human leading a dog that sits on its hind legs -> a standing female-looking figure with hands raised to her (?) head [this panel is one of two with a pattern of pointed arch-heads atop, while others are flat] - stading female-looking human figure with arms akimbo [NB: could the line profiling the head be a halo?] -> Latin trefoiled cross -> a large bird; the underbowl bears the continued piping divisions of the basin to which is added a zigzag pattern all around, shapes that Bilbao (ibid.) identifies three-leaf motifs. The later date stem is fluted, with single roundels in the upper chanels of the flutes.
