Font Notes:
Described in Bilbao (1994: 120) as a plain medieval baptismal font in the Ermita de San Pedro, Ibarra. The entry for Ibarra in the Enciclopedia del románico [https://www.romanicodigital.com/sites/default/files/pdfs/files/alava_IBARRA.pdf] [accessed 16 May 2025] includes two churches: the parish church dedicated to St Martin ["San Martin eliza / Iglesia de San Martín"] and a rural chapel dedicated to St Peter ["Arragako San Pedro baseliza / Ermita de San Pedro de Arraga"]. The Enciclopedia... reports and illustrates a baptismal font in the parish church, a font originally from the nearby hamlet of Zalgo, as already established in the Catálogo Monumental de la Diócesis de Vitoria; this latter source refers to a comment made by the Zalgo parish priest about the font as "monumental", whereas Bilbao [cf. supra] describes it as "pila bautismal sencilla". The font, as displayed in the Enciclopedia... entry [cf. supra] consists of a plain hemispherical basin, a round stem with a moulding at each end, and a round-to-square lower base with a pair of round arch-heads on each side.
The Enciclopedia... entry (ibid.) mentions a holy-water stoup found in the stables of a nearby farmhouse "el caserío de Arraga-Aspikoa, un edificio anejo, recientemente rehabilitado como vivienda", which, according to the Catálogo Monumental de la Diócesis de Vitoria, belonged originally in the portal of the Ermita de San Pedro de Arraga: "una aguabenditera rematada con una cruz, que consideramos elementos más tardíos que, sin duda, pertenecieron a la portada de la ermita".
