Baptismal font noted in López de Guereñu (1962) as a medieval baptismal font, originally from Hereñuela; illustrated with a photograph [https://photo.araba.eus/s/photoaraba/item/66033] [accessed 9 August 2024]: "Pila bautismal de la iglesia de San Miguel de Hereña [...] pila románica. La basa está formada por semicolumnas adosadas; la copa, de gran tamaño, está decorada en el frente con dos aves afrontadas bebiendo en un recipiente situado entre ellas. Los animales son dificilmente identificables y destacan las colas puntiagudas, patas largas y los grandes ojos y picos, todo muy rústico". In Portilla Vitoria (1983). Described and illustrated in Bilbao (1994). Baptismal font of stone consisting of a round tapering basin, much wider at the upper end, decorated on the front side with two facing birds [doves?] drinking from a vessel; pedestal base of clustered colonnettes. No font cover present. The decoration on the basin, but not the general shape of the font, resembles somewhat that on the font at Basquiñuelas.
