There are two entries for this Ulceby [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/TF4272/ulceby/] [accessed 20 January 2019] neither of which mentions cleric or church in it. White's Gazetter of Lincolnshire (1856) notes: "a limestone carved font which is reputed to have been rolled to Ulceby from the disused church at Fordington, during which operation the base was broken from the main body" [NB: the citation is from the transcription in The Willoughby Group of Parishes Website's "Ulceby with Fordington" [www.johnsplace.f9.co.uk/wpg/churches/u-village.html] [accessed 14 March 2007]. Noted in Pevsner, Harris and Antram (1989): "Font. Octagonal, Perp[endicular], with a panelled and buttressed stem and plain shields (with letters carved on them) set in quatrefoils." [NB: it either got a new base or it was repaired, since Pevsner does not mention anything about it]. The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: TF4224372614] notes: "C15 elaborate octagonal font with perpendicular traceried stem, angel supporters to the bowl, the sides of which have quatrefoils and shields with Sacred Monogram."
