Described in Bilbao (1994: 107) as the remaining base of a medieval baptismal font, ornamented with claws and masks; it is now [ca. 1994] used as support for the altar table. Bilbao (ibid.) cites entry by Portilla and Enciso Viana in the Catálogo Monumental de la Diócesis de Vitoria. It is noted in the entry for this church in the Enciclopedia del románico [https://www.romanicodigital.com/sites/default/files/pdfs/files/alava_ABETXUKO.pdf] [accessed 22 June 2024]: "Otro elemento medieval que encontramos en el interior de la iglesia de San Miguel de Abetxuko es el pie de la pila bautismal que hoy se utiliza para sustentar la mesa del altar. Se trata de una columna con basa de garras y mascarones borrados en ellas, tal y como lo describe Micaela Portilla en el Catálogo Monumental" [cf. supra]
