Noted in Kelly's Directory of 1881: "the stone font bears date 1663". Listed in Cox & Harvey (1907) as a Restoration baptismal font dated 1662. Cox (1912) notes this font was ceded to East Bridgford by the Parish Church at Bingham. Described in Pevsner & Williamson (1979): "From Bingham, one of the 1662-3 series (cf. Southwell)". The local Southwell Churches web site http://southwellchurches.history.nottingham.ac.uk/east-bridgford/hfitting.php] describes it as "1663 with octagonal basin with decorated facets, octagonal shaft with alternate fleur de lys and Tudor roses on facets, octagonal plinth" and informs that "in 1883 a font, dating from 1663, was brought from Bingham church. This replaced a wooden font costing £2 12s. 6d. in 1779 when it was set in place". [NB: no mention made of the whereabouts of that wooden font -- Pevsner & Williamson (1979) inform of evidence of a cruciform Saxon church and of a later Norman one, but we have no information on the font(s) of those buildings].
