Font Notes:
Described and illustrated in Ruiz de la Peña (2000) as a monolithic baptismal font of the Romanesque period wall-mounted in a corner of the nave; the font is hemispherical, without a base [NB: the old basin is not exactly 'wall-mounted'; it is mounted in a bed of cement against the wall]; the upper band of the basin sides is ornamented with two bands of incised saw-tooth, with two bands of square motifs below. This author (ibid., 131 fn 292) informs that the local sources in San Román beleive the font was recovered from a nearby well; it is probably the original font of the church here that was removed at some point in the past; this author also points out (ibid.) that it is one of the few Romanesque fonts of this region. Described and illustrated by ACG in the Enciclopedia del Románico en Asturias (2006) [https://www.romanicodigital.com/sites/default/files/pdfs/files/asturias_SAN_ROMÁN_Amieva.pdf] [accessed 21 September 2025] as Romanesque, and similar to the ones at Con and Grazanes in the same region: "La iglesia de San Román destaca por ser uno de los
