There is an entry for this Kingstone [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SO4235/kingstone/] [accessed 21 July 2017], but it mentions neither priest nor church in it. The font here is described in (Herefordshire (1931-1934, vol. I: xlii, 163) as "a very primitive example [..] with irregular circular bowl of breccia on short, moulded stem, perhapsd a re-used capital, base of freestone, probably 13th-century on modern step." Described in Halsey (1987: 107-109) as one of eight baptismal fonts "made of a local reddish brown, psammitic limestone, called 'Breccia' or 'Cornstone'", that were the work of the Herefordshire School [NB: the eight fonts are: Bishops Frome, Bosbury, Bredwardine, Kilpeck, Kingstone, Madley, Turnastone and Vowchurch]. Halsey (ibid.) describes the basin "rather like a spherical boulder" and smaller than the other fonts in this group; it is raised "on a low circular plinth supported by a late thirteenth century step".
