Baptismal font located in the Capilla de los Viedmas, also known as Capilla de las Animas [source: www.baeza.net/patri/monumentos/catedral.htm]. The font is of the type common in the medieval period in the area: large hemispherical, almost cylindrical basin, decorated with large ribbed pattern on most of the sides and underbowl, although the upper basin sides has a stylised arcade of round intersecting arches below the moulding of the rim; below it is a ribbed pattern all around; raised on a squat base, cylindrical and decorated with fluted pattern that matches the ribbing of the underbowl. [NB: there is a noteworthy 7th-century tetrafoil-shaped fountain in this town -unconfirmed and location unknown- that was apparently used by the poet Federico Garcia Lorca in a self-baptism "ceremony"]
