Font Location in Church: Inside the church, in the NW corner of the nave
Century and Period: 12th - 13th century, Romanesque
Font Notes:
On-site notes: the baptismal font in this church is a crude early- medieval piece, probably of the 12th or 13th century; it consists of a roughly hemispherical granite basin raised on a round pedestal base; the upper rim of the basin is badly damaged, the damage affecting the area of the cover staples; the location of the font, right against the northwest corner of the nave church impides view of part of the side; there appears to be a textured area, but it might simply be the area of unfinished granite left to save on the cost of carving the basin, especially since we consider that the ground formation appears to have a special stone to fit the base of the font; the wooden cover is plain and damaged. [cf. Index entry for Muradelle No. 2 for a stoup listed in this church]
