There is an entry for Yarlington [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/ST6529/yarlington/] [accessed 12 April 2018], but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. A font in Yarlington is described and illustrated in Phelps (1836): "The font is ancient, and richly sculptured". Described in the Handbook for travellers… (1869): "an ancient and curiously sculptured font". Listed in Cox & Harvey (1907) as a baptismal font of the Perpendicular period. Wade & Wade (1929) report "a finely carved font" in this church. Described in Pevsner (1958). The Victoria County History (Somerset, vol. 7, 1999) notes: "There was a church c. 1100 when it belonged to Montacute priory", but explains that the present church, with some remains of the 12th century and a font of the 15th, the result of the late-19th century restoration by Arthur Reeve of London. The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: ST6546829309] reports "a slightly rural C15 octagonal font with panelled bowl and shaft" in it.
