Listed in Cox & Harvey (1907) as a baptismal font of the Perpendicular period. Not mentioned in Pevsner (1958). The National Monuments Record [http://www.imagesofengland.org.uk/Details/Default.aspx?id=265328] [accessed 22 September 2009] records "Perpendicular octagonal font; c1840 crocketed pyramid font cover raised by pulley attached to jamb of tower arch" in this church. The octagonal basin has deeply-carved pointed quatrefoiled panels with blank shields alternating with floral motifs inscribed in the panels; tracery on the underbowl chamfer; traceried stem,; moulded lower base; all octagonal; on a modern (?) quadrangular plinth. The oak cover pyramidal octagon, with pronounced moulded arrises, traceried panels between; large floral finial.
