Listed in Cox & Harvey (1907) as a baptismal font of the Perpendicular period. [NB: C&H have the location as "Bream", Somerset]. Noted and illustrated by Jill Bailey (2008 c1971), in The Weston & Somerset Mercury [http://www.thewestonmercury.co.uk/content/twm/RoundAbout/story.aspx?brand=westonmercury&category=RoundAbout&tBrand=westonmercury&tCategory=zRoundAbout&itemid=WeED07%20Jan%202008%2013%3A13%3A51%3A953] [accessed 27 March 2008]. The W&SM article captions the font with a 13th-century date, which is much too early for this font. The font consists of an octagonal basin with shallow vertical sides and a very tall and pronounced curved underbowl, raised on an octagonal pedestal base and a square lower base with chamfered upper side; on a rectangular plint with kneeling stone. The decoration of the font consists of pairs of square flowers on the shallow sides of the basin, pairs of cinquefoil arches or windows on the underbowl, followed down by a roll moulding in the centre ring position; the stem has single trefoil arches or windows on the sides. There is damage on the sides, especially around the upper rim. The basin well is lead-lined. The wooden cover is round with metal decorations and ring handle.
