Noted in Phelps (1836) as an ancient font. Listed in Cox & Harvey (1907) as a baptismal font of the Decorated period. Described in Pevsner (1958): "Octagonal, Perp[endicular], with quatrefoils, etc." The font consists of an octagonal basin with large quatrefoils inscribing a variety of motifs (blank shield, rosette, etc.) on the sides; the underbowl chamfer is octagonal at the top and square where it meets the square stem; the latter has attached round colonnettes at the angles that initiate on the underbowl; the flat sides of the stem have tracery patterns; the lower base is square.
