The National Gazetteer (1868) and Kelly's Directory of 1883 report a Norman font in this church. Listed in Cox & Harvey (1907) as a baptismal font of the Norman period. Wade & Wade (1929) note a "richly carved square font". as well as "stoups in S. porch and outside N. door", without suggesting dates for any of them. Described in Pevsner (1958): "Late C12, square, and remarkable. The bowl has shallow blank arches, but below it are boldly carved big monsters, such as the human-headed bird." The Corpus of Romanesque Sculpture in Britain and Ireland (1993) suggests comparing it to the font at Elmely Castle, Worcestershire. Described in the National Monuments Record [IoE no. 268364] [http://www.imagesofengland.org.uk/details/default.aspx?id=268364] [accessed 2 April 2008]: "Outstanding C12 font, tub with blank arcading supported on carved figures of big monsters." Described in Phil Draper (2005) [http://www.wishful-thinking.org.uk/genuki/SOM/EastPennard/AllSaints3.html] [accessed 2 April 2008]: "Under the gallery is a square Norman font, with arcading to the top of the bowl and at the corners below some well carved (slightly worn now sadly after 800+ years) monsters". Yuri Leitch notes [http://uk.geocities.com/yuri.leitch@btinternet.com/09_SAGITTARIUS.html] [accessed 2 April 2008]: "an unusual Norman Font carved with Harpies and Devils"
