Illustrated with an engraving from a drawing by Rev. J. Brooke, in Eyton (1859- ) and in Anderson (1864). The Salopian Shreds and Patches issue for June 1, 1881 (p. 184) reports a font in this church. Listed in Cox & Harvey (1907) as a baptismal font of the Perpendicular period. The font consists of a roughly hemispherical basin decorated with a pair of incised lines around its middle, raised on an octagonal pedestal base with a moulding towards the bottom, an octagonal-to-square lower base, and a two-step square plinth. Two wooden covers are illustrated: Anderson (ibid.) shows a falt and round cover resting on the ground, behind the font, by the doorway; a recent [August 2009] photograph shows a graceless cover with four heavy vertical ribs and a cross finial.
