Church Notes: original church Romanesque; modified and expanded 15thC;
Described in Kortadi (2000?: 2) as a sandstone baptismal font of the Gothic-Renaissance period; the basin sides are ornamented with the following: a shield with the arms of the village; Baptism of Christ; two lions; angel; eagles with other animals [NB: the two 'lions' appear to be two dogs that appear to be part of a boar hunting scene]. Noted in Plazaola Artola (2008?) as 'isabelina" [i.e., from the time of Queen Isabel la Catolica; a late-Gothic period of the late 15th and early 16th centuries]. The basin upper surface has a nine-sided polygonal carved on top of the round rim. The old basin is raised on a new black marble flat platform [NB: the old lower base, cylindrical and plain, about 20 cm tall, is now in the sacristy].
