Anderson (1864) writes in his entry for Harley Church: "originally a chapel, founded probably about the middle of the twelfth century". Listed in Cox & Harvey (1907) as a baptismal font of the Norman period. In Newman & Pevsner (2006): "Font. Plain C12 tub."
