There is an entry for Wrotham [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/TQ6159/wrotham/] [accessed 3 June 2024]; it reports a church in it. The Antiquary (August 26th, 1871, p. 106) reports of an excursion of the Kent Archaeological Society to Wrotham Church, where they note "a genuine early English" font. Described in Glynne (1877): "The font is Early English, of octagonal form, each face moulded with two plain pointed arches; the shaft is of cylindrical form, and is attached to one of the pillars of the nave." Listed in Cox & Harvey (1907) as a baptismal font of the Early English period. Listed in Leach (1975) as a font made of Purbeck marble. Noted in Newman (1980): "Font. C13. Octagonal, with two shallow sunk arches on each face." The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: TQ6118359189] notes: "Church. Early C14 with C15 west tower [...] Font. C13, stone, octagonal, 2 shallow sunk arches on each face." The St George's Church, Wrotham [https://www.wrothamchurch.org/history/font_pulpit_piscinas.html] [accessed 3 June 2024] notes and illustrates the font in it: "The font dates from the 13th century and probably dates back to the original church on the site. It is octagonal in shape and remarkable because it has two shallow sunk panels on each of its eight sides. Each of these panels probably contained a carving of a single figure, but they have all been effaced. The bowl is supported by eight columns which are a later addition and may have replaced earlier columns."
