Described in Glynne (1877): "The font has a square bowl, on a cylindrical stem, surrounded by four shafts at the angles." Listed in Cox & Harvey (1907) as a baptismal font of the Early English period. Noted in Newman (1980): "Font. C13. On five shafts, the square bowl arcaded and rounded at the corners." The basin has three pointed arches on each side, as well as one on each corner, to a total of sixteen; the outer shafts are round at the top, where they connect with the underbowl chamfer and have graded mouldings as capitals, but the are octagonal at the lower end, and have also moulded bases; on a square lower base, and a modern plinth that is quadrangular with kneeling extension. The inner well of the basin is round and lead-lined.
