Church Notes: the earlier church, Nuestra Señora de Covaleda [aka Nuestra Señora de Covallieda] is said to go back to the early days of the re-conquest of Soria, and is documented by 1270; demolished early-16thC; the present church is 16thC, in the "plateresco" style; occupied by Napoleonic troops ca. 1808; damaged by fire 1952; restored thereafter
Described by Huerta Huerta (2001) as as a baptismal font of the Romanesque period ornamented with a blind arcade of intersecting arches, a common ornamental motif in fonts of this area. Noted in García Gómez (2007) as a Romanesque baptismal font decorated with arches on columns with large capitals.
