Described in the Catálogo Monumental de Navarra (1990?-) and in Domeño (1992) as a medieval baptismal font; large plain roughly hemispherical basin -though the sides are almost vertical; the round pedestal appears painted; square lower base with ball motif ornmamentation. In the a November 2002 photograph [received from Andrés Ortega [www.romanicoennavarra.info]] the font appears in very poor state, as does the whole interior of the church itself. The Enciclopedia del románico en Navarra (2008) notes, that, though reported in the previous two sources, neither retable, nor the font or other pieces of sculpture were at the time [ca. 2008) accounted for and may have disppeared from the church [NB: our last reported sighting of this font in the church dates from November 2002 [cf. supra]. Simeón Hidalgo Valencia (8-November 2012) [http://simeonhidalgo.over-blog.com/article-la-iglesia-de-vesolla-bien-de-interes-inventariado-112241577.html] [accessed 20 July 2015] reports that the church was scheduled for restoration in the BON [BOLETÍN Nº 219 - 8 de noviembre de 2012] [RESOLUCIÓN 306/2012, de 3 de octubre, de la Directora General de Cultura-Institución Príncipe de Viana, por la que se incoa expediente de declaración como Bien Inventariado a favor del monumento denominado Iglesia de la Purificación, sita en Vesolla (Navarra) [www.navarra.es/home_es/Actualidad/BON/Boletines/2012/219/Anuncio-17/] [accessed 20 July 2015]. The church is said [cf. Simeón Hidalgo Valencia supra] to be the work of Maestro Petrus de Guerguitiáin.
