Vesolla / Bessolla

Described in the Catálogo Monumental de Navarra (1990?-) and in Domeño (1992) as a medieval baptismal font; large plain roughly hemispherical basin -though the sides are almost vertical; the round pedestal appears painted; square lower base with ball motif ornmamentation. In the a November 2002 photograph [received from Andrés Ortega [www.romanicoennavarra.info]] the font appears in very poor state, as does the whole interior of the church itself. The Enciclopedia del románico en Navarra (2008) notes, that, though reported in the previous two sources, neither retable, nor the font or other pieces of sculpture were at the time [ca. 2008) accounted for and may have disppeared from the church [NB: our last reported sighting of this font in the church dates from November 2002 [cf. supra]. The church is said [cf. Simeón Hidalgo Valencia supra] to be the work of Maestro Petrus de Guerguitiáin.
