There is an entry for Elkstone [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/SO9612/elkstone/] [accessed 30 January 2019] but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. Cox & Harvey (1907) note the baptismal font here, a "handsome example of the close of the 14th cent", a noteworthy example from the Decorated period. The entry for this parish in the Victoria County History (Gloucester, vol. 7, 1981) notes: "The church at Elkstone dates from the later 12th century. [...] Although small the church is notable for its sculptural decoration, including that of the corbel table and the south doorway, which has a carved tympanum depicting Christ in Majesty. [...] The church has an octagonal font of the 15th century." Noted in Verey & Brooks (1999-2002): "Font. C15. Octagonal bowl with a quatrefoil on each face; good, and typical of Gloucestershire." [NB: the original church dated to the Norman period, but we have no information of the earlier font]
