There is an entry for [Little] Wakering [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/TQ9388/little-wakering/] [accessed 9 May 2019] but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. Cox & Harvey (1907) list a baptismal font of the Norman period here. The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: TQ9345588326], however, has: "Parish Church. C12 Nave and Chancel. C15 extension to Chancel. Circa 1425 west tower. South porch of C15/C16 origin rebuilt C19. C19 and C20 restorations. [...] In the east jamb of the south doorway is a stoup, funnel shaped recess, circular bowl with moulded base and rim. C20 Font, heavy round bowl, splayed to octagonal base, octagonal stem and base slab".
