Listed in Cox & Harvey (1907) as a baptismal font of the Norman period. Noted, however, in the Royal Commission of Historical Monuments (Essex, 1916-1923) as "plain, octagonal with moulded base, 15th-century." [NB: we are unable to explain C&H's listing of a Norman font in this church; the present font is octagonal and plain, with a moulded base, and appears to be of the Perpendicular period]
