Hussell (1910) writes: "When the 15th century south porch was taken down in 1865, parts of a Norman font -complete but one stone- were found built into the walls. This was probably the font from the former church, broken up and used in this way, for a new font [...] was supplied when the rebuilding took place in the 15th century." Hussell (ibid.) describes and illustrates the 15th-century font: "The font [...] is Late 15th century date, and of elegant design; octagonal, with deeply sunk cusped quatrefoils with centre leaf ornament on each side of the basin, the coving below having large leaf paterae. The stem is modern." Pevsner (1952), however, reports only the later font: "Font. Perp[endicular], octagonal, shaft panelled, bowl with elaborately cusped quatrefoils."
