There is an entry for Colyton [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/SY2494/colyton/] [accessed 4 November 2019]; it reports a church and 0.12 church lands in it. Stabb (1908- ) reports a modern font in this church. The new font consists of a cauldron-shaped basin raised on a central shaft and four outer colonnettes on a polygonal lower base and plinth. The wooden cover is probably contemporary, 19th-century. [NB: the church itself goes back to Anglo-Saxon times, as evidenced by the Saxon cross discovered in 1933 broken up and re-used as construction material in the tower; it is now restored inside the church, but we have no information on the earlier font(s) of this church]
