There is no mention of a font in Harrison's (1920) entry for Terwick: "Restored in 1847 and in 1871; [...] Of the original Nor[man] church there remain
the W[est] wall and window ; the rest is E[arly] E[nglish]". Noted in Drummond-Toberts (1935). Described in the Victoria County History (Sussex, vol. 4, 1953): "The church of St. Peter [...] consists of a chancel and nave, both originally 12th-century, if not 11th, and a modern annexe to the west [...] The font is tub-shaped, perhaps 12th-century, resting on a later polygonal base." Described and illustrated in Whiteman (1994): "The 12th-century font is tub-shaped and rests on a cylindrical stem". The illustration shows a lower octagonal ring-like base and a round plinth. [NB: the church was restored in 1847, so the lower base of the font may be of that date]. Noted and illustrated in the CRSBI (2008): "A plain tub font on a separate cylindrical stem, raised on two superimposed plinths: an octagonal plinth with a roll moulding and a wide cylindrical plinth. The bowl is chamfered at top and bottom and has a lead-lined basin. There are locks on the rim to N and S. [...] dates from the12thc". The wooden cover is round and flat, with metal decoration; it appears modern, but still uses the old locking staples in the upper rim of the basin.
