Harrison (1920) reports a stoup and a "beautiful font [...] This little church is mainly Tr[ansitional]-Nor[man] (late 12th c), [...] with some E[arly] E[nglish] additions, [...] Restored in 1902." The Victoria County History (Sussex, vol. 7, 1940) notes: "The church was valued at 20 marks in 1291 [...] The nave and chancel are probably of the mid-12th century, to which the aisles and tower were added at the very end of the century. The porch and vestry are modern. The church was restored in 1903 and again in 1922. [...] The font has a square bowl mounted on a square pedestal having on each face two rectangular recessed panels, each containing a tall, narrow trefoil-headed panel. The lead settings for the locking-staples of the cover remain on the upper surface of the bowl. The font is apparently of the 13th century, and resembles that at Piddinghoe." The plan of the church interior in the VCH entry (ibid.) for this church shows the font located at the very west end of the north aisle. Described in Whiteman (1994): "The medieval square font of green sandstone is carved on each side with lancets and set on a base with deeply cut trefoil-headed arches". Noted in the CRSBI (2008).
