Century and Period: 16th century, Late Medieval [composite]
Baptismal font consisting of a roughly hemispherical basin, almost cylindrical, plain except for a pair of parallel roll mouldings at the upper rim; the inner well of the basin has no drainage apparent; the basin is raised on a plain round stem and a wider round lower base, also plain. There is no cover present, but there are some traces of there having been some hardware attached to the upper rim. The font was found holding a flower base inside it, and we were not able to ascertain whether or not it is used for baptisms but were informed that the font used to be inside the church, at the west end of the nave, but was replaced by a later, modern, during one of the restorations the church underwent. At a still later restoration it was restored to the church and placed in the present position in a northeast chapel of the nave [cf. Index entry for Artavia No. 2 for a holy-water stoup near the entranceway].
