Described and illustrated in Hein (1966) as a roughly hemispherical mounted baptismal font of the Horder workshop; the upper rim has a rope moulding motif; the basin side below it has an acanthus vine forming ringlets; a thin double roll moulding separates this side from the underbowl; the decoration of the underbowl is rather unusual for Horder in that it includes several human heads of different kinds, some rather grotesque, as well as vegetal motifs, in the sort-of-arcade that adorns it; at the bottom of the underbowl is another rope moulding. As Hein records (ibid.), there are seven human heads, one of them crowned, in a total of ten spaces; the others are filled with acanthus leaves. The base is also unusual for this workshop: it is round at the upper end, then almost square, with vertical sides, and it has the side panels delineated with a very flat moulding rather than the common rope moulding that is found in most of the bases of this workshop. On-site notes: the font is located inside the church, at the east end of the nave, to the left/north side of the altar railing, obviously not its original position.
