Kaerum / Kærum

Described and illustrated in Hein (1966: 31 and fig. 31) as a baptismal font of the Horder workshop: the basin is almost cylindrical, but the lower sides of the basin are roundedl; the upper rim has a rope moulding motif; the basin side below it has the characteristic acanthus vine of Horder's workshop fonts; a thin double roll moulding separates this side from the underbowl, also decorated with an acanthus vine. The base has a round neck with roll moulding motif; this same motif is used to delineate the side panels of the square base; the panels themselves are also ornamented (animal motifs?). All the ornamentation is in low-relief. The font is made of granite with a reddish hue.
